5 Skin Benefits of Using Natural Oils

Posted by Emily Ings on
If your skincare journey has been anything like ours, you’ve reached that point where you’re done using products that contain harsh ingredients. After throwing out tons of products that your skin rejects, the trial and error method becomes expensive and discouraging.

If this sounds like where you’re at, we’re happy to welcome you to the holistic side of the beauty industry. At Kynd Scent, we’re all about educating others on the healing benefits of natural ingredients and proving that living a low-tox lifestyle is easier than you think!

We happen to know a thing or two about natural beauty, so dive deeper with us into five reasons why you should start using natural oils on your face and body.

  1. Natural oils lock in moisture

Compared to your standard lotions and creams, natural oils lock in moisture and penetrate deep into the skin to leave you feeling as soft as butter. If you struggle with dry, flaky skin on your face, applying a few drops of our Superfruits Face Oil can improve your moisture barrier over time. This face oil is full of plant-based oils like raspberry seed and rosehip, which contain antioxidants that bring you a natural, healthy glow!

For those of us with oily skin, adding more oil to your face probably sounds like your worst nightmare, right? Well, it’s not that you should forget about oils altogether, but you should be using different kinds of oils. We recommend using our Sunny Days Cleansing Oil that’s packed with jojoba oil, a lightweight plant oil that might even decrease your oil production! Since jojoba seed oil acts similar to the natural oils on our skin, it almost tricks our body into thinking it should start producing less, which is great if you’re constantly blotting throughout the day.

  1. Act as a skin-barrier

Anytime you step outside, you’re exposed to all kinds of invisible environmental stressors that eventually make their debut on your skin’s surface. Even if you’re doing all the right things like washing morning and night, applying moisturizer, and wearing sunscreen, you still might notice that your skin gets irritated for no apparent reason.

Beyond just acne and redness on our face, studies have shown that pollutants can worsen eczema. Natural face and body oils act as a fortifier by shielding the top layer from free radicals without suffocating the skin underneath.

  1. Anti-inflammatory properties

Believe it or not, natural oils might be better for rashes than over-the-counter cream due to their anti-inflammatory properties. The best part is, using natural oils to treat skin inflammation doesn’t come with a list of nasty side effects!

Oils like coconut and jojoba are excellent carrier oils that reduce skin-irritation and soothe flare-ups caused by intense itching. If you experience redness, dry patches, or itching, it’s most likely your body’s way of telling you that it needs some sort of topical anti-inflammatory.

  1. Cleans your pores

Since most of us are hyper-aware of our pores, one of our favorite benefits of natural oils is that they can shrink enlarged pores! Oils like macadamia, camellia, and jojoba pull out the dirt and grime from pores, making them appear smaller. Instead of harming your skin with harsh exfoliants, cleanse those pores with our Superfruits Face Oil, which contains camellia oil, or the Sunny Days Cleansing Oil for its jojoba oil content.

  1. Safe for sensitive skin

If you have to be picky with what you put on your skin, then natural oils might be just what your skin needs. Whether you suffer from skin issues like eczema or have acne-prone skin, natural oils gently inject moisture without harming your skin-barrier. Most body products contain chemicals and artificial fragrances that are too harsh to use on sensitive skin.
